This event explores how young people can contribute to and shape the future of halal, sustainability, and inclusive tourism. It focuses on amplifying youth perspectives in these interconnected areas — examining how the next generation envisions tourism that is sharia-compliant, environmentally responsible, and accessible to all communities. This dialogue likely aligns with your broader mission of fostering international conversation around these three pillars. The youth-focused theme suggests the event is designed to engage emerging leaders, students, and young professionals in discussing practical solutions and fresh ideas for making tourism more ethical, sustainable, and inclusive across different cultural and religious contexts.

This dialogue explores how media shapes public perception and drives the narrative around halal and sustainable tourism, featuring leading voices from Halal Times and British Muslim Magazine. The discussion examines the transformative role of both traditional journalism and social media in promoting ethical tourism practices, highlighting how strategic storytelling and digital engagement can challenge stereotypes, amplify underrepresented voices, and inspire travelers to make more conscious, values-driven choices that benefit both communities and the environment. # halal tourism forum
This inaugural HASIM dialogue brings together halal tourism experts from six continents—including representatives from South Africa, Australia, Malaysia, Turkey, Britain, and Indonesia—to explore how different regions are successfully integrating halal-conscious practices with sustainability and inclusivity. The discussion will showcase diverse approaches to halal tourism development, share best practices across cultures, and examine how destinations can create welcoming experiences for Muslim travelers while promoting environmental responsibility and community empowerment. # seri dialog tematik global tentang pariwisata halal, berkelanjutan, dan inklusif

The global halal tourism industry has long been framed through the lens of religious compliance — prayer facilities, halal-certified food, and faith-sensitive hospitality. Yet this framing, while necessary, risks reducing a rich and multidimensional phenomenon to a checklist of labels.
This session invites a deeper interrogation: when halal principles are applied with integrity, do they not — by their very nature — advance the broader goals of sustainability and inclusion that the global tourism agenda urgently demands?
At its core, halal tourism upholds values of ethical conduct, fairness, environmental stewardship, and respect for human dignity. These are not incidental to sustainability and inclusion — they are foundational to them. A destination that genuinely embraces halal principles tends to be one that protects its natural environment, safeguards the wellbeing of local communities, ensures equitable access for diverse travellers, and resists the extractive logic that has historically harmed both ecosystems and host populations.

The HaSIM Forum returns with the latest edition of its bi-monthly dialogue series on Halal, Sustainability, and Inclusive Tourism (HaSIM), this time moving the conversation from concept to practice. The session brings together industry leaders and practitioners to examine how the principles of halal-friendly, sustainable, and inclusive tourism are being applied on the ground—across destinations, hotels, and travel businesses operating in diverse global markets.
The panel features Muhammad Rahmad, Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Indonesian Economic and Tourism Studies; Hafsa Gaher, Founder and CEO of Halal Travel Network in the United Kingdom; and Sunardi Song, General Manager of Pullman Hotel Kuching, Malaysia—offering complementary perspectives from research, the global halal travel trade, and frontline hospitality operations. The dialogue is co-hosted and moderated by Assoc. Prof. Hera Oktadiana, Ph.D., CHE (Co-Founder of HaSIM Forum and Founder of Muslim Women in Tourism & Hospitality) and Elyn Hastriana, BBA, M.Par (Co-Founder of HaSIM Forum and Founder of the Center for Indonesian Tourism Studies).
